The City of Wheat Ridge is seeking volunteers for the Outside Agency Program Committee. These volunteers play a vital role in selecting the non-profit organizations who make a difference in the quality of life for Wheat Ridge residents. The organizations selected for funds provide local services to those in need.
Apply Here! Deadline to apply is April 30, 2021.
Past volunteer, Kristine Disney, said, "I enjoyed being on this committee because it wasn’t a huge time commitment, the other volunteers were great people and I learned A LOT about what the many nonprofits that serve Wheat Ridge can do with donated dollars. I am a huge proponent of giving back to your community."
The Committee reviews the applications in order to make recommendations to City Council on the organizations selected for funding. Applicants give a 10-minute presentation to the committee about their organization, and answer questions during a City Council meeting. All applications also provide a copy of the organization’s most recent budget documents including revenues and expenditures.
Cheryl Brungardt, past volunteer, also shared, "If someone wants to help make a difference in Wheat Ridge and learn the good work done by organizations in our City and County, it's a small amount of time that makes a huge impact. I liked hearing about the different missions and communities served by each group as they presented. I also enjoyed meeting others on the committee, some I had known from other areas, and I have a new group of people I know from meeting the other members."
Interested applicants must be able to attend evening meetings on the following dates: May 18, May 25, June 8, and June 15. One Wheat Ridge resident represents each City Council District on the Committee and serves for a two-year budget cycle term (2021 and 2022) which expires in July 2022.
