Clear Creek caution

Clear Creek

Due to the danger posed by the swift water that is running extremely high in Clear Creek, Wheat Ridge Police Chief Dan Brennan has issued a caution about swimming or floating on inner tubes in the creek.

These activities have also been ordered temporarily restricted by Jefferson County Sheriff for Clear Creek as it flows through unincorporated Jefferson County.

Kayaks, whitewater canoes, professionally guided rafts, river boards and stand up paddle boards are allowed, but users should use extreme caution. Anybody using these devices must use a Type I, Type III, or Type V Coast Guard-approved paddling life jacket and a water-use designed helmet.

Restrictions will stay in place and extreme caution should be exercised along the creek until water levels decrease.
