Responsibilities

The Planning Division of Community Development is responsible for:

• Performing professional planning work in all aspects of current land use planning and zoning
• Managing the review of proposed developments
• Assisting with long range planning efforts including revisions to the Comprehensive Plan and other guiding documents
• Providing research, analysis, and reports on current planning proposals through pre-application conferences to achieve implementation of the Comprehensive Plan and other land use policies
• Providing direct assistance to citizens, businesses, developers, and other departments and agencies in all aspects of land development and use with the Planner of the Day
• Developing zoning code amendments to reflect City Council land use policy
• Serving as staff liaison to Planning Commission and Board of Adjustment
• Providing staff assistance to City Council, Renewal Wheat Ridge and Housing Authority
• Completing special projects as assigned by the Department Director
