Demolition and Asbestos Abatement
For all Renovation projects (residential and commercial) - an asbestos report is required if the structures/components to be disturbed exceed the trigger levels. The inspection must be conducted on-site for asbestos by a Colorado-certified asbestos building inspector. Asbestos reports from a drop-off site will not be accepted.
Single-Family Residential Dwellings ("SFRD") - the trigger levels are: 50 linear feet on pipes; 32 square feet on other surfaces; or the volume equivalent of a 55- gallon drum. The trigger hit first determines if a report is required.
Public and Commercial Buildings (other than SFRDs) - the trigger levels are: 260 linear feet on pipes; 160 square feet on other surfaces; or the volume equivalent of a 55- gallon drum. The trigger hit first determines if a report is required.
Asbestos Abatement requires a permit with both CDPHE and City of Wheat Ridge. For more information, please call 303-235-2855, option 7.
