Who is responsible for maintenance of the trees growing in the right of way?
Trees in the City right of way are maintained by the City. Trees on private property are maintained by the property owner. Tree branches that hang into the right of way from private property are the responsibility of the property owner; however, if branches are creating a safety issue, the City will request the property owner resolve the problem. If the City has to trim privately owned trees, all costs involved would be charged back to the property owner. Contact the Parks Department at (303) 205-7552 or the Public Works Department at (303) 235-2861 to report street trees requiring attention.
