The Annual WRPD Toy Drive will be held Sat., Nov. 24 at the Lakeside Walmart from 8:30 a.m. - 2 p.m.

On Saturday, Nov. 24, from 8:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Lakeside Walmart, the Wheat Ridge Police Department and the Lakeside Police Department will host Operation Blue Santa in collaboration with the Wheat Ridge Optimist Club. WRPD’s Blue Santa, aka Jeffcom 911 Communications Manager Chris Garramone, will be on hand for pictures with children and to visit with them about their wish lists. In addition to new toys, monetary donations will be collected and used to purchase gift cards for children’s clothing and food. Throughout the year, police officers are in contact with families who might need a little help during the holidays, especially those with young children and teens. The Optimist Club collects those names and addresses for gift delivery that takes place on Saturday, Dec. 15. Volunteers are also encouraged to come out and join in the fun with members of the Optimist Club for gift wrapping at Wheat Ridge City Hall on Dec. 14 from 4-6:30 p.m.
