Kids' Nite Out is a program for kids ages 7 - 14 to come have fun and hang out with friends at the Wheat Ridge Recreation Center on Friday nights during the school year. The Rec Center closes to the public at 6:30 pm and therefore is open only to Kids' Nite Out from 7 - 10:30 pm.
Kids' Nite Out had a grand re-opening at the Rec Center in January 2016, and is operating under new management. Kids' Nite Out employs their own staff who provide supervision of the program and coordinate activities.
In the gym, kids can participate in games and contests like basketball, dodgeball, soccer, kickball, football, and relay races.
Music & Dancing
In the dance room, kids can dance to their favorite songs in a supervised environment. Disc jockeys only play music that has been pre-approved and deemed appropriate. The DJ runs dance contests and games throughout the night to encourage kids to participate.
The leisure pool, including the slide and lazy river, is also open from 7 - 9 pm for kids who want to swim. Wheat Ridge Recreation Center lifeguards are on duty during swimming hours to keep everyone safe.
Occasionally, the climbing wall will be open for use and is staffed by a Wheat Ridge Recreation Center Climbing Wall Attendant who has the proper training and certifications to safely belay climbers. Please check the current schedule, as climbing is not always available. A climbing waiver must be signed by a parent or legal guardian before kids can participate.
Contests & Prizes
One of the highlights of the program is the opportunity to win prizes for participating in games and contests, showing good sportsmanship, answering trivia questions, or for just being in the right place at the right time!
