What is a Transfer of Ownership?
A transfer of ownership happens when a business with an existing liquor license sells their business to someone else. The new owner will have the liquor license transferred to their business name. The process is quite similar to a new liquor license in that the new owner must be fingerprinted and have their background checked.
It is recommended by the City Clerk's Office for all applicants to contact the following Departments / Divisions regarding additional information and/or licenses that might be required as part of the liquor license application:
